The
Vision, The Collection

Drive, passion
and all that is possible define Sergio Davila, the new
hard working designer quickly making his mark on the Manhattan
fashion scene. That same energy and desire to live life
fully and uncover the elusive magic found in fine design
are reflected in Sergio Davila’s Winter 2004 menswear
collection.
And as energetic and as full of life is the collection,
it also offers balance and perspective creating a look
of urban sophistication doused with strong touches of
warmth. The collection’s willingness to take risk
is evident in the edgy style of the designer’s signature
deconstructed French army bag jeans and too cool leather
motorcycle jackets and trench coats alongside more classically
designed, but with a twist, ultra high neck sweaters made
of lush baby Alpaca wool and extended length sexy scarves
in a variety of rich colors. All told, the new Sergio
Davila collection provides the dressed up man strong notes
of informality and playfulness, and the more casual man
verve, flair and style.
The History
A native of Peru, Sergio Davila graduated from the Academy
of Art University in San Francisco in 2002 and immediately
began developing and marketing his own menswear line based
on a vision for how he himself wanted to dress.
His very first collection created a buzz on the west coast
and found immediate buyers with such established retailers
as Rolo, Mac and Smith Williams in San Francisco and Timoteo
in Los Angeles. This buzz was quickly followed by the
Hispanic Scholarship Foundation’s decision to include
the collection in a charity fashion show in San Francisco.
In February 2003, Magic and DNR Magazine selected the
collection to form part of their prestigious Trend Show,
which showcases the best of the upcoming menswear collections.
In February 2004, Sergio’s Fall Winter 2004/2005
collection was launched to critical acclaim. DNR magazine
selected the collection as one of the editor’s “must
see” picks at The Collective trade show. In March
2004, the first Sergio Davila Menswear store opened in
Manhattan and Sergio’s network of retailers continues
to grow.
Media appearances include interviews for Inside City Limits,
Within Beauty and Univision and articles in Angelino,
Refresh, Genre and Nikki Style.
Sergio Davila’s Fall Winter 2005/2006 collection
will be launched during Fashion Week, February 2005.
